Discover the exciting world of artmaking! Now in its 94th year, 91±¬ÁÏ’s Saturday Studios offers students in grades 3–12 a fun and supportive space to explore their artistic passions. From painting and drawing to printmaking, ceramics, photography, and more, our diverse range of classes sparks creativity and inspires young artists of all skill levels—whether picking up a paintbrush for the first time or refining your craft.
Led by Art Education Student Teachers under the guidance of expert faculty, Saturday Studios is not just about learning art but also about building connections and discovering new possibilities. No prerequisites, no portfolio reviews—just bring your imagination and a passion for art!

In this class, students explore a wide variety of media and materials that may include drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, and more. This class provides ample room for play while also introducing young artists to different and exciting approaches to artmaking.

Students will explore a variety of approaches to creating three dimensional forms. Students may work in clay, wood, wire, plastic, and found objects among others. This course will look toward historical and contemporary sculpture as reference tools and sources of inspiration.

Through drawing, painting, collage, fibers, and more, students learn to observe and explore the world around them. They will investigate new styles of making and learn more about themselves as artists. Students will be exposed to work by contemporary artists working in a variety of media.

In this course, students will learn how to bind their own sketchbook, then spend the following weeks filling its pages. Students will learn the fundamentals of art, and will also be exposed to various mediums and techniques that may include relief printing, zine making, and collaging.

Working from both observation and imagination, students will learn to express themselves in the versatile medium of paint. This class explores foundational concepts such as color, texture, form, and space. Painting media will be water based.

Students learn the fundamentals of figure drawing while exploring principles of value, contrast, line, texture, and shape. This course will look at traditional and contemporary works and techniques to help inform their work. All models will be clothed.

This studio class focuses on the art of storytelling. Learn how to translate sketches into clear, dynamic and entertaining comics. Focus is placed on story structure and style. Find your voice in the ever-changing world of comic art.

Explore traditional and innovative ways of drawing in a variety of media. This studio is for students interested in personal artistic development. Students will look toward historical and contemporary drawing as reference tools and sources of inspiration.

2025 Program Fee: $205
Payment is due in full by September 30, 2025.

Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served and space available basis. Submission of a registration form does not guarantee enrollment in a class. If you submit a registration form and your preferred classes are full, you will be placed on the waiting list and notified as soon as possible if a space becomes available.
Scholarships are based on financial need and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please indicate on your registration form if you would like to request a scholarship. To be considered, you will be asked to provide family financial information on the registration form (required).
91±¬ÁÏ reserves the right to cancel classes in the event of an insufficient number of registrations. Students will receive a full refund in the event that a class is canceled for this reason. Classes with low enrollment will be canceled at least two weeks before the start of the program.
Students will receive a full refund for classes dropped by September 30th. Students who fail to notify 91±¬ÁÏ Youth Programs of their registration cancellation in writing to k12@massart.edu prior to this date, will not be eligible for a refund.
Failure to pay the class fee by the payment deadline does not withdraw a student from the program. Students who do not pay the class fee, and who do not attend the class will still have the class fee charged to their student account. Withdrawal from the program is only accepted via writing to k12@massart.edu by the September 30th deadline.
